Update 12 - Autodrome Montmagny - 250 Tours XPN (September 21, 2024) π
The final race of the year is just around the corner. After returning to form at Delaware Speedway, L.P. is looking to finish the season on a high note in Montmagny, Quebec. Despite several setbacks throughout the season, and more recently at ICAR and CTMP, the #47 team continues to work hard and fight for points. After qualifying P9, L.P. went on to finish in the Top 5 at Delaware.
"Delaware Speedway is not the track where our car expresses itself best. We are two tenths of a second a lap short of the win. It doesn't seem like much, but the level is incredibly strong in NASCAR Canada this season and that's what makes the difference," says Dumoulin.
"I knew that if I managed to get into the top 5, I could hope for a podium if a yellow came in the last laps. There was no late caution but I still managed to fight in the group of drivers fighting between third and eighth place and I am very proud, for the whole team of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Bellemare Group | Omnifab, to have collected this result after two difficult events"
The province of Quebec will host the season finale of the NASCAR Canada Series for the first time in history. Although the championship is very much out of reach, L.P. is looking to put on a show and finish on the podium in his home province.
"I remember the packed stands at the Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction in early June. I'm sure it will be like that in Montmagny. Performing on tracks in Eastern Quebec is a privilege that NASCAR Canada offers to drivers and even more so to fans. I'm sure it will be a great event. For my part, I'm going to give it my all to end the season on a high note. This 2024 season hasn't always been easy for Dumoulin Compétition, but we've also had some very good races. Finishing on the podium would be truly wonderful!" says Dumoulin.
Update 11 - Returning to the oval at Delaware 200 (September 8, 2024) π
After a tough weekend at CTMP, we're back to oval-track racing with the penultimate event of the year at Delaware Speedway.
The mood was upbeat last weekend at CTMP. It was a long weekend with beautiful weather, and we were all excited for our home race – The WeatherTech 200. However, engine trouble would plague the #47 road car before the qualifying sessions.
Always resilient, the Dumoulin Competition team quickly sprang into action, swapping in a fresh motor just in time for qualifying. Things were looking good, as L.P. would go on to qualify P8, running similar lap times from the 2024 season opener at CTMP.
The green flag dropped, and L.P. was determined to gain positions. However, it was evident the #47 lacked the pace and speed to charge through the grid. Unfortunately, L.P. was forced to retire early due to a mechanical failure.
Update 10 - Labour Day Weekend Sprints featuring WeatherTech 200 (August 30 - September 1, 2024) π
With the season winding down, the final road-course event takes place this Sunday with our home race – The WeatherTech 200!
Last week, L.P. and the Dumoulin Competition crew were just seven points away from third in the championship standings and feeling optimistic at Complexe ICAR, a track they know inside out—until a sudden turn of events changed everything.
"Our expectations were high for that race at Complexe ICAR last Saturday. Unfortunately an engine failure put an early end to our race," shared Dumoulin.
"We now have to focus on the WeatherTech 200. I've won four times in the NASCAR Canada Series at CTMP and finished on the podium the last two times I've raced there, so of course my expectations are high."
The gap to third in the driver standings has now widened to thirty points, making another championship look slim. However, Dumoulin and the team remain undeterred. Their focus is on winning the remaining events and finishing the season strong.
"I don't start a NASCAR Canada race to finish sixth, I always want to win. We are facing a challenge that the entire Dumoulin Compétition team and the people who work on the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab car want to resolve brilliantly," says L.P.
With ICAR in the rearview mirror, L.P. is gearing up for a strong comeback at CTMP. "We will do everything to bring the WeatherTech 200 trophy, with the colours of our main sponsor, home!" concludes Dumoulin.
Update 9 - Complexe ICAR Evirum 100 (August 24, 2024) π
Only four races remain in the NASCAR Canada Series! After last weekend's race at Delaware Speedway was postponed due to inclement weather, Complexe ICAR is next on the schedule following GP3R.
Consistency has been key for Dumoulin. With six top-five finishes, L.P. has maintained a strong position near the top of the leaderboard, even without a win. The chaotic race at Trois-Rivières caused several retirements, shaking up the championship standings. The top five are now separated by just 56 points, with L.P. only seven points away from third place.
Dumoulin managed to escape the chaos with a P4 finish at GP3R. However, it came with a cost as the #47 road course car sustained heavy damage.
The postponed Delaware race would allow the team more time to repair the #47 and prepare for Complexe ICAR.
"The work of rebuilding our road track car damaged at GP3R was long. The entire Dumoulin Compétition team had to devote many hours to this work, but I am confident in the competitiveness of my equipment," shares Dumoulin.
"I expect around thirty drivers on track at ICAR. As at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, this will pose some challenges with the traffic of the backmarkers. ICAR doesn't have a long straight, which sometimes makes the drivers' task complicated when there are a lot of cars on track, but it is the same for everyone, and I am always very comfortable in these traffic conditions," concludes L.P.
The extra time also allowed L.P. to spend some time with fans at the Northern Performance Show & Shine, which took place at the WeatherTech headquarters.
"It was really nice to meet the fans of motorsports, of NASCAR, and of the WeatherTech brand," says Dumoulin.
Update 8 - GP3R at Trois-Rivères (August 11, 2024) π
Following a disappointing result in Edmonton, L.P. looks to bounce back with a strong performance in his hometown of Trois-Rivères, Québec.
Having qualified P3 for the start of race 8, L.P. and the team put in a tremendous amount of work to prepare the oval track car and were optimistic about securing a podium finish.
"We started the Edmonton race very confident. I did a lot of laps in free practice to fine-tune the settings of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/Groupe Bellemare/Omnifab car. It was really competitive, which allowed me to qualify third and climb into 2nd place right from the start of the race," shared L.P.
After jumping into 2nd, disaster would strike as a hit from behind would cause body damage along with eminent tire failure.
The incident forced L.P. into the pits, costing him 6 laps. Undeterred, L.P. demonstrated his champion spirit by continuing to fight fiercely on the track.
"I never gave up and I was thinking about the championship points; I told myself that, if I managed to get back into the top 10, it would limit the impact on the championship points," says L.P.
L.P. would go on to finish P10, mitigating the damage from the collision.
"Setting the second fastest lap of the race confirms that we had a truly exceptional car, capable of finishing among the top 3. It’s unfortunate but we have to look ahead and aim for victory in the next events. The season is still long!" concludes L.P
Dumoulin looks to feed off the home-town energy this weekend! GP3R kicks off on August 9, with the headlining NASCAR Canada race taking place on August 10.
Update 7 - The Western Canada tour continues - Edmonton International Raceway (July 27, 2024) π
After securing a top 5 finish in Saskatoon, L.P. and Dumoulin Competition are now heading to Edmonton International Speedway for the second leg of the Western Tour.
Race 7 began with a challenge for L.P., who qualified in 11th position. Undeterred, he fought his way through the field, ultimately finishing in P4 and earning the Newfoundland Tourism Move of the Race Award. The top 5 finish garnered valuable points for L.P., enabling him to maintain his strong position in the championship standings.
Since 2014, the team at Tiger Automotive have hosted Dumoulin Competition for race service and vehicle preparations for all races in Western Canada. This partnership has enabled L.P. and the #47 race car to consistently perform at a high level every year, and WeatherTech Racing is grateful to have them as a partner!
Update 6 - Sutherland Automotive Speedway - Leland Industries 250 (July 20, 2024) π
Coming off a tough race at Ohsweken, L.P. and Dumoulin Competition look to jump back into the saddle as NASCAR kicks off the West Coast tour in Saskatoon.
Last week’s race at Ohsweken Speedway’s dirt track presented unexpected challenges for Dumoulin and the #47 oval car, as L.P. finished outside the top 10 for the first time this season.
"This year the track was very bumpy and a suspension component was bent after multiple passes over these bumps, which affected the car balance. I fought to score points and hold on to fourth place in the championship standings, but it was clearly a special event as we are racing with cars that are not designed for this type of track." Says L.P.
Dumoulin is now looking forward to race 7 in Saskatoon, a track where he has enjoyed much success and claimed his first oval-track victory a decade ago.
"It’s easy to say that you like a track when you win there, but in this case, it’s really a very beautiful oval track and I love the city of Saskatoon as well. There are still 7 races to go this year, so this will mark the halfway point of the season and I’m approaching this event with the victory as a target. It would be a great way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my first oval win to bring the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab car back to the top of the field there." L.P. concludes.
Update 5 - L.P. hits the dirt for race 6 at Oshweken Speedway (July 11, 2024) π
After solid performances in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, L.P. and Dumoulin Competition head back to Ontario for the first and only dirt race of the season.
With 4 top 5 finishes in 5 races, L.P. will look for another strong performance at Ohsweken. Race 6 will require a lot of technique and skill, as the dirt surface will present unique challenges for the drivers and teams.
"I really admire racing on dirt. It’s a fantastic show to watch, especially with vehicles specifically built for this type of racing. With our NASCAR Canada cars, it’s more difficult to perform as well as we would like" says L.P.
Currently sitting 4th in the championship standings, L.P. has one goal in mind for this race.
"The important thing will be to score big points at Ohsweken to remain among the leaders in the championship," states Dumoulin "This sixth event of the season is a great challenge in terms of setting up the car and adapting to a surface used only once a year...considering our good results last year at this track and since the start of the season, I think we can do very well at Ohsweken," concludes Dumoulin.
Update 4 - Canada Day Weekend Double-Header (June 29-30, 2024)
The start of the East Coast tour in Newfoundland did not disappoint. There was plenty of action, and fans were treated to some top-notch racing! Qualifying 7th, L.P. had a fair amount of ground to cover in order to fight for a podium spot. Dumoulin put on quite a charge, managing to pilot the #47 up several positions, with very close battles for P3 and P4.
L.P. crossed the finish line with a solid P5, securing some valuable points and ensuring the #47 oval car remained intact and competitive for the next stage of racing. For Dumoulin, these races are not only important on a competitive level, but they are also personal.
"My mother is from New Brunswick, so I have a particular affection for returning to compete in races in the Maritime Provinces." Says L.P.
The schedule does not get any easier, as round 4 and 5 take place back-to-back. The East Coast tour will wrap up this Canada Day weekend at Riverside International Speedway in Nova Scotia.
Update 3 - L.P. heads to the rock for race 3 π
L.P. and Dumoulin Competition are ready to battle as the NASCAR Canada Series heads to Newfoundland for the start of three east-coast races.
Coming off a solid top 5 finish at Autodrome Chaudiere, the offseason tuning of the #47 oval track car has proven to be successful, resulting in a top performer.
"It’s very positive to go on this tour in the Maritimes with the level that we showed on the first oval. Of course, Avondale and Antigonish are different tracks from Vallée-Jonction which we know very well, but our oval car was well-developed during the winter and I am confident that it is possible to stay in the Top 5, score points in the championship and continue our progress." Shares L.P.
After racing in Newfoundland is complete, the NASCAR Canada Series will head to Nova Scotia to conclude their east coast tour with a doubleheader at Riverside International Speedway.
"These events will be a good test for our oval car. With such short time between races, it will be necessary to avoid collisions and bring the car back intact for the following rounds, which will arrive quickly in July." Says Dumoulin.

Update 2 - LP Dumoulin Gears Up for His 155th Race in the NASCAR Canada Series
As the NASCAR Canada Series heads to Autodrome Chaudière on June 1st, fans are eagerly anticipating LP Dumoulin’s 155th race in the series. Dumoulin, who hails from nearby Trois-Rivières, Quebec, is particularly excited about this race, because he frequently practices at Autodrome Chaudière during the off-season. His familiarity with the track and his current standing in the championship combine to generate a feeling of optimism.
Dumoulin is currently third in the championship standings, after his performance at the season opening ASSA ABLOY Accentra 200 put him in a strong position to start the year. Now, as he prepares for the Bud Light 300, Dumoulin is focused on moving up in the rankings.
"The Autodrome Chaudière has quite banked turns, which makes it pleasant for the drivers, and the races there are always very competitive," says Dumoulin. "It's a 300-lap race in which the strategy is defined mainly according to the position on the starting grid. If you are well qualified, you can stay at the forefront throughout. Otherwise, you have to be patient and take advantage of restarts to gain positions and to be among the leaders at the end."
Qualifying will be an essential part of Dumoulin’s strategy. Securing a good position on the starting grid can significantly influence the outcome of the race. In addition to avoiding traffic and incidents, starting up front will let LP use his experience to manage tires, fuel, and other drivers.
The competition at Autodrome Chaudière will be fierce. Drivers like Marc-Antoine Camirand and Gary Klutt, who joined LP on the podium last race, will be aiming for victory as well. Previous champion Andrew Ranger and Montreal native Alex Tagliani will also be looking to make their marks. However, Dumoulin’s familiarity with the track and his home crowd support could give him the extra boost needed to clinch a win.
Update 1 - Victoria Day SpeedFest (May 17-19, 2024)
The moment we've all been waiting for, race week is finally here! Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 are ready for another competitive season with a sleek-new look and a burning desire to capture another championship title.
Race 1 will take place this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Having clinched 3 victories at CTMP, L.P. is no stranger to the fast sweepers and elevation changes of this road course, and will look to make a statement with another victory.
The #47 car isn't the only one with a new look. The NASCAR Canada Series (formerly known as NASCAR Pinty's Series) has a new name, and will feature 13 races across 6 provinces, including the addition of a new track - Autodrome Montmagny.
